I got my first response to yesterday’s rather large-scale request for hats and mittens:
I will definitely knit a couple of hats or mittens to contribute later this year, if not earlier. And I have a few skeins of Wool-Ease ready, too! : )
That’s from one of the Ravelry forums. I’ve also sent requests to a number of high-profile bloggers to ask them to plug the project, but I don’t actually expect to hear from them or see anything happen with that during the weekend. This is very exciting and encouraging!
I know the power of the internets and the generosity of knitters, and I may well end up being overrun with hats and mittens here. But the nice thing is that, even if I receive more items than Cornerstone can use immediately, they are connected with a network of similar shelters throughout Minnesota, so the hats and mittens will be used regardless. Yay.
