I was glued to his side the whole time (other than the few minutes when he was waiting for me, during which he attempted to unwind a spool of thread and got bored before he got finished - and we had Quite The Serious Discussion after that), but Adam did most all of the sewing on this pillow cover (click for big) himself. (I put in the zipper.)
I think the real motivation was the chance to use the fancy embroidery stitches on my machine (a 1964 Singer Touch ‘N’ Sew), but he did consent to standard straight seams.
I think it’s pretty darn cool that my kids are learning to do this.
Also: I love those red dianthus. That’s about the only part of my front flowerbed that isn’t awash in weeds, and it makes me happy every day.
